PET v.s. Polycarbonate

PET

• Does not contain BPA.
• Considered safe for storing water short to medium-term.
• Not ideal for prolonged exposure to high temperatures (e.g. sun or heat).

Polycarbonate

• Contains BPA unless said otherwise, which can leach into the fluid  it's filled with leading to microplastics in your water; especially  when exposed to heat or staying full for long periods of time, including  being cleaned and filled multiple times.
• Some newer versions are BPA-free, but not all are.

PET 

• Lightweight and impact-resistant. 
• Designed for fewer reuse cycles (often 1–3 months). 
• Can warp or degrade over time, especially with repeated cleaning.
   

Polycarbonate 

• Much more durable and long-lasting (can last years). 
• Resistant to drops, pressure, and regular washing. 

PET

• Fully recyclable.
• Easier to recycle into new bottles, textiles, etc. 
• Lower carbon footprint during production.

Polycarbonate

• Less widely recycled.
• Often ends up in landfills due to limited recycling infrastructure.
• Production and disposal have a higher environmental impact.
